Pizza Ranch was born in 1998 from a simple dream: to bring bold, ranch-inspired flavors to every table in Kansas City. Founders Dale and Karen Mitchell started with a single wood-fired oven, a handwritten recipe book passed down three generations, and an unwavering belief that great pizza brings people together.

Today, that same spirit fills every corner of our restaurant. We still hand-toss every dough, source our produce from local Missouri farms, and make our signature ranch-herb sauce fresh each morning. We haven't just grown — we've stayed true to who we are.

The First Oven Lights

Dale and Karen Mitchell open Pizza Ranch at 4801 N Oak Trafficway with one stone oven, six tables, and a dream. The line wraps around the block on opening night.

2003

The Ranch Sauce Is Born

After five years of experimenting, our now-iconic herb-ranch base sauce is perfected — a recipe that remains the heart of our entire menu to this day.

2008

Kansas City's Favorite Pizza

Pizza Ranch wins the KC Star Reader's Choice Award for "Best Pizza" for the first of what would become six consecutive years, cementing our place in the city's heart.

2013

Farm-to-Table Commitment

We forge partnerships with eight local Missouri farms, committing to source 80% of our produce and dairy regionally — a promise that now covers 95% of our ingredients.

A Second Generation Steps In

Dale and Karen's son Marcus joins as Head Chef, bringing culinary school training and fresh creativity while keeping the soul of the original recipes intact.

Online Ordering & Growth

Pizza Ranch launches online ordering and expands the dining room, welcoming over 120,000 pizzas served annually while remaining 100% locally owned and operated.
